What to see in Lanzarote?

The main tourist attractions in Lanzarote are almost endless.

Here we will mention just the must visit places for those visiting the island for the first time:

→ Timanfaya National Park – Lanzarote is volcanos, craters, lava grounds… With more than 5000 square metres of area, this natural park is perfect to hike. If possible, visit the mythical Fire Mountains and La Caldera del Corazoncillo.

→ César Manrique Foundation.- If there is an artist that reflects his origin in each of his works, he is César Manrique. Or, rather, César Manrique is Lanzarote. The Foundation is a complete cultural centre where you will find all about this renowned artist, as well as many other interesting proposals.

→ Jameos del Agua.- Visit Monte de la Corona and immerse yourself into the bowels of the Earth throughout long tunnels and caves result of one of the last eruptions of this famous volcano, which receives thousands and thousands of tourists in search of adventures every year.

→ The Gulf.- Imagine yourself walking around a huge crater that features green water. Yes, this dream green lagoon is in Lanzarote, in an area buried by volcanic eruptions called Yaiza, in the south of the island. Swimming is forbidden because it is a Natural Reserve of Lanzarote, but the sea, when it is close to the crater, creates a wonderful black sand beach.  You’ll never get tired of taking pictures.

Where to stay in Lanzarote?

If you want to enjoy sun and sea, the most complete and comfortable place to stay in Lanzarote is Yaiza, specifically, the area of hotels in Costa de Papagayo, or, further into the South, the area of resorts in Playa Blanca where you can find all kinds of accommodations, from the classic All-Inclusive apartments in Lanzarote to the 5-star hotels or  hostels and guesthouses to spend a couple of days in the island at a good price.

The offer is wide and prices vary depending on your needs and the type of holiday you’ve planned.

So if you want to enjoy a relaxing getaway without many worries, our recommendation is to stay at a hotel in Playa Blanca: there you will find some of the best hotels in Lanzarote for children, Adults Only and families.

If, on the contrary, you want to escape from routine and have fun, the resorts in Puerto del Carmen are a good option. For a family holiday in Puerto del Carmen, you have also the option to choose one of the hotels next to the Matagorda beach.

What to eat in Lanzarote?

It is clear that the fish is the main element of the traditional gastronomy of Lanzarote: fish soup, fish croquettes, fried moray eel, marinated tuna, garbanzas, gueldes, the traditional and famous papas arrugás, the mojo in all its versions (green, red, picón…), ropa vieja, puchero… And no end of delicious proposals that will transport you to the most authentic roots of this island.

If you want to eat well in Lanzarote, the most recommended is to opt for the traditional pubs and restaurants located close to the harbours where fishes are unloaded, since they serve up the freshest fishes from the sea.

The terraces of Playa Blanca are other must visit. Because of their atmosphere, always lively and their cocktails in all forms and colours. The perfect way to close an excursion day and enjoy the sunset placidly.
