Los Pinares and the Sierra de Torremolinos are two of the green spaces that offer visitors an alternative experience to the usual sun and beach holidays. Barbecue areas, children’s playground areas, routes and trails for long walks… A different Torremolinos, that will certainly surprise many.
The Andalusian capital for sun and beach tourism, Torremolinos hides a side to it a lot less portrayed than its beaches. It is its rustic nature that includes mountains, trails and routes and fine Mediterranean pines that provide a magnificent scenery to enjoy active tourism during a trip to this famous city of southern Spain.
Torremolinos is above all, a beach destination, but it also has a considerable green area called Los Pinares de los Manantiales, in its northern area, at the foot of the mountain range, and with a vegetation that presents the essence and character of this Andalusian coast. Pines, oaks, carob trees dot this beautiful setting in which a curious element stands out, that gives the area its name, the mountain springs. The best known are those of La Pellejera, San Jose, that of Inca and Albercon del Rey, that is considered one of the most important springs in Andalusia.
The area of Los Pinares, so close to the mountain range, is by nature a large area with natural water fountains coming from the mountain streams that can be seen at its best in the early spring which this coastal area enjoys. Although it is a natural environment, in the forest of Los Pinares there are numerous recreational areas, ideal for children, outdoor sports, and most especially, hiking.
Only in this area, close to the Marconfort El Griego hotel and next to the municipal garden centre and the most important theme parks Torremolinos, there are three signalled hiking routes that allow you to discover some of the most striking scenes in the area. In total, there are roughly 6Km of low/medium difficulty that can be made with children and are a nice and healthy leisure proposal for a holiday in Torremolinos.
Another natural point of great interest is the Jardin Botanico Molino de Inca that, with an area of 4 hectares, has countless of trees and palm-trees species. The area is ready for family, good services and is very well conditioned.
