How to make your holiday a five-star experience

To live a unique, special and unforgettable holiday there is no need to spend thousands of euros, or stay in suites of the most expensive hotels in the country. To have a perfect summer full of exciting experiences is easier and cheaper than you think: just be clear about the destination that we advise, study it in depth and leave the ” inertia” for those who are content with anything.

From among our country’s main destinations, we have chosen three: Mallorca, Fuerteventura and Cadiz. These three places, full of natural beauty, are all acclaimed by foreign and local tourists in the summer months both for location and quality. How can you make the days in these destinations become a highly repeatable experience?

Hunt for and capture Majorcan silence

Mallorca is a quiet island, full of peace and spectacular places that go beyond the bustling capital and the packed beaches. Enjoying that calm is definitely the key to a five-star vacation.

Some trips that can’t be missed from any travel book? The most recommended are: a visit to Port Adriano’s new Marina, tasting the island’s local cuisine, a boat excursion bound for the island of Cabrera or lose yourselves in the coves where only early birds venture to go.

Cabrera Island

Cabrera Island

Fuerteventura and a taste of the exquisite Atlantic

Simply by choosing the island of Fuerteventura is the first step in your journey of discovery that the Canary Island is the perfect holiday retreat and earthly luxury that most people search for when spending their free time. Where is the key that opens this flood of sensations? That’ simple, it is in the tranquility of the most beautiful beaches (like Cofete or the large beaches of Corralejo) and in the variety and quality of its local cuisine.

Cádiz, much more than Andalusian art

One of the wildest, charming and natural destinations that you can visit in summer is Cadiz. Although the beaches and restaurants in the capital tend to be crowded (partly for their quality and low price); there are other areas in the province that offer real luxury, calm and relaxation.

Places such as Zahara, de los Atunes, Valdelagrana or Chiclana de la Frontera. Three  destinations with kilometres of unspoilt beaches and a range of bars that are a real treat.

Where to stay in Mallorca, Fuerteventura and Cadiz?

If we want to enjoy a few days of rest, relaxation and luxury in one of these three destinations, there is nothing better than choosing one of the hotels in the IBEROSTAR Hotels & Resort chain.  So, in Mallorca (in the Santa Ponsa area) relaxation is guaranteed in IBEROSTAR Suites Hotel Jardin del Sol and in its Spa; in Fuerteventura the option to choose is the beautiful IBEROSTAR Fuerteventura Palace.

For those who opt for it, there is nothing better than the IBEROSTAR Royal Andalus, a hotel with a golf course located in the most beautiful and exclusive area of Chiclana de la Frontera.

What is your dream hotel?

It’s a difficult question to answer, because the more you ask for, the more you get. Dreaming is free, but it in the tourism industry that becomes complicated. My dream hotel is the place where I would like to spend my entire life. This is my dream, but realistically it is really expensive and frustrating. I started by typing luxury hotels in -choose your desired destination- in Google.

By doing this search at different paradisiac places I dream of (specially on Mondays), my favourite three are mentioned below:

Grand Hotel El Mirador

Perfection exists: Luxury Grand Hotel, a seafront colonial palace in Costa Adeje, south of Tenerife and only for adults. My dream hotel has come true. Spa, all sort of restaurants, luxury room service, sea views, close to the beach, pool with deck chairs and gardens…What more can you ask for?.

Son Julia Boutique Hotel

Getting lost in the wonderful Mallorca? If I have to choose between this and the previous dream, I wouldn’t know what to decide? I love Mallorca because of its 4 seasons (eternal summer frustrates me), its crystal blue water and its mountains. Mallorca is beautiful and comfortable. Not to mention this boutique hotel in the outskirts of Palma, which is just perfect for rest and disconnect from the world. It’s recognized as a luxury agrotourism in Mallorca’s countryside and offers everything you can imagine to make your dreams come true: spa, restaurants, activities, impressive gardens, golf nearby… And the capital, Palma is really close.

Grand Hotel Portals Nous

Those who designed Iberostar Hotels & Resorts’ Grand collection did really well. I can’t help mentioning it when talking about dream luxury hotels in Mallorca. Grand Hotel Portals Nous hasn’t even opened its doors yet  -opens in summer- but it already looks like an oasis where you can live eternally. It’s a paradisiac design hotel in Cala Bendinat, with direct access to the beach, where you can find a fantastic beach club with deck chairs and everything you need to relax. The rooms are themed suites with original designs to suit all tastes. It also has spa, gym, a nearby golf, the biggest luxury marina in the island nearby… And we could keep on writing more and more pages about this amazing dream hotel.

Romantic hotels: A place you must visit during spring

We said it before and we maintain it: Every travel Is different (Even if you’re travelling to the same destination as before), each traveller seeks for new experiences and each accommodation is designated to fulfil that desire. You can keep using a sledgehammer to crack a nut, but knowing the market demands and specializing is –whether like it or not- essential in our times.

Specialized tourism is the future. There will always be adaptable hotels what will survive based on lower-middle class travellers that look for a low-cost holiday package (the cheapest) those who doesn’t care about quality and only see everything the hotel offers with their budget.

Big expend, small profit: an arduous path avoided for those who felt the pinch and bet on turning their hotel into one that fits with the customer’s necessity. The large investment needed during the past lean years in Spain drove many small hotel chains to bankrupt, leaving the market for those who controlled the situation, and succeeded during these times of uncertainty

The hotel sector in Spain, despite some hotels doesn’t want or haven’t been able to move forward into this new trend, is one of the most advanced in the concept of romantic hotels and Adults Only hotels and currently has a wide variety of accommodations specially designed for couples. Being a priority: rest, gastronomy and the relaxation services the place has to offer.

This new touristic line is more developed in the coastal zones, especially in Majorca, Malaga, Huelva, Cádiz and the Canary Islands. With a few exceptions in the Catalonian coast and a gold mine in the major cities like Madrid, Valencia and Barcelona, where the couple market segment is one of the main source of incomes.

The most specialized accommodations can be found mostly in locations with high touristic demand, they usually have wellness and comfort centres, which is one of their flagship services included. Some outstanding hotels are the spa hotels in Playa de Palma (Majorca), the adult only hotels in Costa Adeje, the family hotels in Costa Adeje, some of the spa hotels in Fuerteventura, especially those in Jandía (southern part of the island) and the spa hotels in Cadis.

Prices tend to be more expensive than the regular all inclusive hotels since the specialized accommodations are, generally, superior than 3 star hotels and offers more complete services that just a spa. For example, they usually have more than one restaurant, and at least one is author’s cuisine or has a gourmet menu. They also tend to offer lounge bars, or beach clubs with chill out zones, the most amazing parties to dance and have some fun between friends, without leaving the excellent single service and privacy.

Some big hotel chains had greatly succeeded in this new hotel line that they have turned into a worldwide reference. Between the most mentioned projects is The Grand Collection line of IBEROSTAR, with the Grand Hotel Budapest in Europe and the Gand Hotel Salomé in Tenerife. Meliá, with its renewed resorts in the coastal zone of Calvià, is another big pioneer that has some special unique hotels, with very authentic and inspiring projects like the Sol Wave, the Sol Beach House Cala Blanca…tagged in the travellers couple line of Sol Hotels.

The town of Morro Jable, close to where you can find the majority of holiday accommodations in Jandia, will celebrate its Carnaval from the 14th to the 23rd of March. They are the longest and most spectacular of the Jandia peninsula. As well as locals and residents, many tourists book their holidays to Fuerteventura during Carnival to enjoy one of the most important festivities of the Canary Islands.

Finding accommodation in Playa de Jandia during these dates is quite complicated and the recommendation for all those considering a trip to the south coast of Fuerteventura, between March and April 2014, is to choose and book a hotel in advance.

Many hotel chains have announced for this autumn and winter seasons many discounts on rooms in Fuerteventura and all inclusive resorts on the same beach of Jandia, that allow for very interesting offers, especially if you are travelling with children or in a group.
