Jerez and MotoGP: a perfect plan for the Mayday long weekend.

The Jerez Circuit will welcome the first weekend in May from the 2nd to the 4th, the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix, the most important of the world championship MotoGP 2014.  The event, as every year, hopes to convert this city in the province of Cadiz in to the object of attention of everybody and many will choose Jerez as their destination for this long weekend at the beginning of May. To see Marc Marquez, Pedrosa y Lorenzo fight for victory at home is irresistible for any motorbike fan.

For this reason, taking advantage of the fact that the 1st May is Thursday, the circuit, accommodation and all additional attractions in Jerez that revolve around this event have decided that the “fully booked” signs will be the order of the day.  The first data points to the fact that again this is how it will be.

The tickets for the Motorbike World Championship and Superbikes 2014 in Spain are already on sale online on the Jerez Circuit official web site with discounts for early booking.  The web has special offers for those who buy tickets for both MotoGP and also Superbikes.  For youngsters between 13 and 18 years and also for those over 65, they are maintaining the reduced price tickets as in previous years.

However, according to the official web site of the Jerez Circuit these discounts will only be available for those who buy their tickets before 7th April.  The most expensive tickets are at the moment discounted at 120 euros for adults whereas to buy at the ticket office they cost 130 euros.  For children they cost 60 euros with the discount and 65 euros at the ticket office.

For accommodation, as it is possible to organise a complete 4 day holiday with the family, a good option is to choose a hotel next to the Jerez Circuit, with different alternative services for those who do not like motorbikes, such as relaxing days in a golf hotel in Jerez, with spa, games for children and free wifi. The idea is that it is versatile and offers other experiences in addition to the central objective of enjoying the championship.

With regard to transport although the most authentic option is to travel by motorbike (you can reserve parking at a price of 10 euros at the circuit’s official parking area), the alternative for families is to travel by car or hire a self drive mini-bus.  This affords freedom of movement and will allow you to enjoy some of the delights in the Jerez area, such as the Port of Santamaria, follow the route of the White Villages, or try the Jerez (Sherry) wine route.
