4-star hotel in Dubai

The museum is placed at the Al Fahidi Fort, the oldest building in the city, built in 1787 as a defense, but then it turned into an arsenal, it was also used as a prison, and finally, in 1971 it was opened as the official museum of Dubai to exhibit its original heritage.

Visitors have the opportunity  to know Dubai old history, how they interacted with other civilizations. Besides, they can get familiar with the different environments of Dubai: coast, desert, mountain, etc. Urban and rural lives are described through the monuments and remains exhibited in the museum, which is divided into different wings according to the period exhibited. Audio and video are available all over the museum.

As regards the exhibitions, there are many authentic monuments, pottery, weapons, tombs, archaeological finds, jewelry, original models, drawings… A visit to the Dubai Museum is a trip from old to modern Dubai and gives an idea of the city development.

The last stop before leaving the museum through its spiral ramp is the gift shop.

Respecting the facilities, the Dubai Museum offers tourism guidance at no extra charge; although it holds a parking, there are nearby parking areas; the museum is close to Ghubaiba and Fahidi Metro and public bus stations.

Our hotel in Bur Dubai is walking distance from the Dubai Museum, we have maps at guests’ disposal, you only have to ask for them at the hotel’s reception desk, technology lovers can have a look to the map on our official website.

We recommend customers to visit the Dubai Museum for them to experience our heritage.

Barcelona and its sunsets, a perfect plan for summer evenings

To be honest, we must admit the fact that on holiday all stuff feel good and all plans are, as it were, perfect. In fact, there is nothing better than those days off to enjoy all that -unfortunately- we can not afford in our everyday life because of our work routines. During these days, you can take a nap, go for a walk without haste, enjoy coffee at your leisure near the sea at any outdoor bar or gaze at the sunset on the seashore, our featured plan of the month.

Although we can gaze at sunsets anywhere in the world, the fact is that there are destinations where a sunset is something more than that, for instance, Barcelona, a city where you can live a genuine experience while gazing at the sunset.

Sunset in Montjuic, Barcelona

With its majestic beauty and warm charm, Barcelona’s coast gives visitors golden, bright and really romantic sunsets. Nonetheless, there are more appealing areas tan other ones. So, where do you have to go to gaze at these sunsets that are worthy of postcard? The answer lies in the following key points:

The viewpoint of Migdia

Located in Montjuïc, the truth is that this viewpoint hides much more than an amazing views of Barcelona. The viewpoint of Migdia is one of those places in which to enjoy a fairytale sunset with the cityscape of Barcelonian the background. However, to enjoy this experience properly, you should arrive at least one hour before (as it is crucial to get a good spot in the front row).

The bunkers of Carmel

There is no doubt about it: the most beautiful view of Barcelona is in the bunkers of Carmel, a place that, late in the afternoon, is crowded by sunset hunters who want to watch how the sun brightens the capital with golden shades.

Barceloneta beach

There is no place as the beach of Barceloneta to enjoy a romantic and cozy sunset. We recommend a fabulous plan which consists in enjoying a good wine at your leisure in the beach of Barceloneta at sunset.

10 beach hotels worth visiting

Usually when one decides on a hotel to spend a holiday the first thing you do is ask for the opinion of friends and acquaintances so that, at least, the accommodation (the part of the trip that requires most investment) is guaranteed with regard to comfort and quality.  However it is true that all travellers have different requirements and what for me was a disastrous stay for you was your trip of a lifetime. It is normal that we like to confirm, compare and find the maximum information possible.

That explains the success of platforms such as Yelp for restaurants or Tripadvisor for hotels and attractions in the destinations. Without trying to emulate anything, just based on the opinions that can be found on Internet, or our own, and users experiences offered regarding location, service, and price, we have compiled a list of 10 hotels that we consider worthy of consideration.  If you have visited them, you must surely agree, that  you are considering returning if the opportunity arises.  If not keep the list handy for next summer, it will not be wasted.

Barcelo Correlejo Bay – Adults only hotel next to the Correlejo sand dunes, valued for the exceptional location and the exquisite specialized services for those over 16 years old, with a taste for gourmet dining, tranquillitye, and avant-garde style. Very well considered both for excellent customer care and the quality of the installations. Additionally the Barcelo guarantee is an added extra.

Atlantic Gardens – Complex of bungalows in Playa Blanca, exclusively for adults only and with the Marconfort guarantee.  Ideal for a short break with your partner or also for a long stay because they are small apartments next to the Playa Blanca beach, with typical Lanzarote architecture, agreeable interior decoration, and luxurious public areas.

Hotel Playa Gaviotas y Playa Gaviotas Park – Both form part of the Iberostar hotel chain, with very similar services, installations and type of guests to whom the accommodation is directed (family hotels in the south of Fuenteventura).  Near to these hotels in Playa Gaviotas, you will find their sister hotel the Fuerteventura Palace, a hotel in Playa de Jandia with an adults only area, but generally with a family touch.

Specializing or disappearing

How do we look for our holiday accommodation? Do we still visit the lifelong travel agency? Do we look in Google for a destination before organizing our routes? Do we book a hotel in a booking website or do we seek the cheapest accommodation in the hotel’s official website? Do we prefer to leave everything in the tour operator’s hands? However we seek, the truth is that most of us do not want just a hotel or a destination: we want a hotel adapted to the chosen destination and, especially, adapted to us.

Every traveller is a world, but many of them are changing their booking routine, opting for specialized accommodations where they could enjoy a personalized attention and services conceived of to meet their needs. We have seen how the Adults Only hotel demand has increased in the Canary Islands, Majorca or the coast of Andalusia, traditionally sun and beach destinations where guests look for a complementary experience, generally related to sports such as golf, health and wellness (for example, 3, 4, 5 star spa hotels close to Palma or golf hotels in Jerez and Marbella)

A good example of this advance, where the Spanish company Barceló is always present, is Barceló Illetas Albatros, the first Adults Only hotel of this company. An experiment with so good results that Barceló has now other 5 exclusive hotels for 16 years old and over, for example: Barceló Corralejo Bay, in Fuerteventura and Barceló Bávaro Beach, the first Adults Only hotel of this chain in America.

Barceló Illetas Albatros is one of the most emblematic accommodations in Palma de Majorca, a hotel of reference with 4 star services, located in the cove which gives it its name.  Its comprehensive refurbishment has turned it into a design hotel in Palma bay and one of the best accommodations of the company.

Its keys are:

A)     Location: It is a hotel situated on the beachfront, with direct access to a small cove, very close to golf courses and just 5 minutes away from the centre of Palma. This hotel is surrounded by some of the most exclusive bars and clubs in Majorca and is perfectly connected with the airport, which is located at 14 km from it if we go thought the Palma bay towards the south of the island.

B)     Wellness: It is a spa hotel situated right in Palma bay, equipped with 2 outdoor swimming pools and Jacuzzi, heated swimming pool and Jacuzzi with sea water, relax area, hamman, high pressure shower, beauty treatments and massages in a special room with sea view. There is also a gym with up to date equipment.

C)     Bars and gastronomy: With several restaurant options and a careful selection of buffet dishes and haute cuisine, this hotel has also a flat roof from where you can enjoy one of the best views of Palma bay and dance until the dawn with DJ sessions and theme parties.

D)     Design rooms: B-Rooms are spaces specially designed for the most exclusive and demanding guests, a place where comfort and good taste converge in order to offer a different experience.  They are considered one of the most beautiful hotel rooms in Palma bay… and you can book one with sea view!

Jerez and MotoGP: a perfect plan for the Mayday long weekend.

The Jerez Circuit will welcome the first weekend in May from the 2nd to the 4th, the Spanish Motorcycle Grand Prix, the most important of the world championship MotoGP 2014.  The event, as every year, hopes to convert this city in the province of Cadiz in to the object of attention of everybody and many will choose Jerez as their destination for this long weekend at the beginning of May. To see Marc Marquez, Pedrosa y Lorenzo fight for victory at home is irresistible for any motorbike fan.

For this reason, taking advantage of the fact that the 1st May is Thursday, the circuit, accommodation and all additional attractions in Jerez that revolve around this event have decided that the “fully booked” signs will be the order of the day.  The first data points to the fact that again this is how it will be.

Barcelo Montecastillo Golf Hotel

Barcelo Montecastillo Golf Hotel

The tickets for the Motorbike World Championship and Superbikes 2014 in Spain are already on sale online on the Jerez Circuit official web site with discounts for early booking.  The web has special offers for those who buy tickets for both MotoGP and also Superbikes.  For youngsters between 13 and 18 years and also for those over 65, they are maintaining the reduced price tickets as in previous years.

However, according to the official web site of the Jerez Circuit these discounts will only be available for those who buy their tickets before 7th April.  The most expensive tickets are at the moment discounted at 120 euros for adults whereas to buy at the ticket office they cost 130 euros.  For children they cost 60 euros with the discount and 65 euros at the ticket office.

For accommodation, as it is possible to organise a complete 4 day holiday with the family, a good option is to choose a hotel next to the Jerez Circuit, with different alternative services for those who do not like motorbikes, such as relaxing days in a golf hotel in Jerez, with spa, games for children and free wifi. The idea is that it is versatile and offers other experiences in addition to the central objective of enjoying the championship.

With regard to transport although the most authentic option is to travel by motorbike (you can reserve parking at a price of 10 euros at the circuit’s official parking area), the alternative for families is to travel by car or hire a self drive mini-bus.  This affords freedom of movement and will allow you to enjoy some of the delights in the Jerez area, such as the Port of Santamaria, follow the route of the White Villages, or try the Jerez (Sherry) wine route.

Christmas in Majorca

It may sound hasty but, Christmas is just around the corner. Holidays once more. It’s a relief, although packing your suitcase at this time of year almost inevitably means filling it with winter coats. But traveling can never be a drag, and there are warmer options than Berlin or Vienna. A good alternative, for example, is to spend the Christmas holidays in Majorca. The island offers a mild climate, well into January, and many cultural proposals to enjoy a few days in the Mediterranean.

Marina Luz Hotel

Marina Luz Hotel

Why choose Majorca for Christmas? The truth is that, it is a relatively unknown destination for the winter months, a quiet option, suitable for traveling with children since the offer of services and accommodation for families in Majorca is broad. In addition, in recent years, due to the strong commitment of the island to extend its tourist season, many hotels for adults in Majorca and city hotels have designed really interesting plans: dinners for groups, Christmas parties, art exhibitions, shopping tours, street markets… A different way to attract tourism that has little or nothing to do with those tourists that visit the island every summer.

The accommodations that are most active in this regard, are those located in the centre of Palma or along its bay, in Cala Estancia or Playa de Palma, Illetas or even Andratx and Port Adriano. They are destinations more attractive to travellers in the medium and high economic  purchasing power, that decide to travel at this time of year, senior couples that look to enjoy a different experience during the Christmas and New Year’s holidays.

The culture and shopping are elements of the complementary offer that make Majorca an interesting destination, beyond the natural characteristics of its location, just over two hours to almost any European capital, with excellent air travel connections to all of them and with prices that are more than affordable for the British, French, Swiss or German.

Its official, the Carnival in Jandia has its 2014 dates

The official date designated by the town council of Pajara, the municipality where the Jandia Peninsula is located, to celebrate the famous Carnivals of this area of Fuerteventura is from the 6th to the 23rd of March.

The town of Morro Jable, close to where you can find the majority of holiday accommodations in Jandia, will celebrate its Carnaval from the 14th to the 23rd of March. They are the longest and most spectacular of the Jandia peninsula. As well as locals and residents, many tourists book their holidays to Fuerteventura during Carnival to enjoy one of the most important festivities of the Canary Islands.

Finding accommodation in Playa de Jandia during these dates is quite complicated and the recommendation for all those considering a trip to the south coast of Fuerteventura, between March and April 2014, is to choose and book a hotel in advance.

Many hotel chains have announced for this autumn and winter seasons many discounts on rooms in Fuerteventura and all inclusive resorts on the same beach of Jandia, that allow for very interesting offers, especially if you are travelling with children or in a group.

Learning Spanish during your holidays in Lanzarote

Lanzarote, due to its excellent climate all year round round, has become a destination for those looking to enjoy their free time travelling and learning languages. On the island, for some time now, there are several spanish courses for foreigners, organised by the local government of Lanzarote. These take place in different places such as, Arrecife, Teguise, and the town of San Bartolome.

For tourists, this is an excellent opportunity to study and practise spanish, and at the same time, learn more of the culture and traditions of this spectacular volcanic island, as the lessons are based on the history of Lanzarote, its landscapes and the traditions and customs of the local society.

On the island, the are a number of academies that offer spanish learning courses for foreigners, with intensive one week workshops, or even just 4 days, for those visiting the island for a couple of days. A walk through the gardens of Puerto de la Cruz

Puerto de la Cruz

Visiting the gardens of Puerto de la Cruz is one of the most recommended activities for a romantic getaway to Tenerife. The most famous of all, is the Botanical Garden of the city , originally known as “Acclimatisation Garden of La Orotava” and features 4,000 different plant species , where its large collection of palm trees and colourful tropical plants stand out.

Founded around 1790, it offers a journey full of scents and astonishing sceneries, of magical trees with infinite roots that climb towards the sky. It is a unique landscape, perfectly integrated in this area of Tenerife, the beautiful valley of Orotava, where the vegetation is dense and tropical and the fauna is more varied.

Visits to the garden can be made from 9am to 6pm, every day of the year except for the 25th of December, the 1st January and Good Friday. Also, it has a library and a herbarium dedicated to scientific research, where the more curious and interested may visit and learn about the cultivation of tropical plants in these lands.

Sol Parque San Antonio

Sol Parque San Antonio

The garden is situated in the city centre, in Retama Street , so it is possible to visit the garden after a short walk from the hotel or by city bus, if one is staying at a hotel in Puerto de la Cruz.

Another garden located by this coastal city of Tenerife are the gardens of Taoro Park, a place designed to transmit peace, well-being and tranquility to all who venture though its paths. The garden covers an area of 100,000 square metres, next to the most famous Casino of Puerto de la Cruz, and is considered as the green lung of the city.

Taoro Gardens are just 2 km from the old part of town of Puerto de la Cruz and the Martiánez Lakes, on the avenue with the same name and with beautiful views to the whole city. Many are those that consider this garden as the great balcony overlooking Puerto de la Cruz, a space where to disconnect from city life, steps away from everything.

Very close to this large garden, you can find one of the most complete hotels for couples in Puerto de la Cruz. At an excellent price, you can enjoy a double room with views to Mount Teide and the Gardens of Taoro.
