Hiking routes in Escaldes

The Escaldes-Engordany parish in Andorra has a wide variety of hiking routes promoting the rural tourism in the country. There are lovely mountainous landscapes in the entire Principality with valleys, forests and terraces forming sceneries worth contemplating.

In Escaldes-Engordany, specifically, there are many hiking routes with different levels and styles. Actually, there are many visitors that stay in some hotel in Andorra in order to hike by the routes of this area.

Some recommended hiking routes in Escaldes:

– La Comella-Collada de Caulla-Prat Primer (15.49 kilometres). This route crosses the Canal del Maians valleys, the Comella river and different types of forests where you can watch variety of fauna and vegetation.

– Las Fuentes circuit (3.48 kilometres). The route crosses the Prat Primer valley where you can appreciate a large diversity of woody plants such as the hazel nut tree, raspberry cane or Scots pine.

– Madriu valley (26,79 kilometres). This valley was declared World Heritage Site by the UNESCO. The route meets with a part of Las Fuentes circuit and a viewpoint from where you can see a panorama of Andorra la Vella and Soberbia valley.  Besides, the Madriu river goes in parallel with the whole route.

– Plana-Engolasters-Estany de la Nou-Estany de Perafita-Pico de Perafita Road (18,56 kilometres). This route goes from the Plana road and crosses the Estany de la Nou, Estany de Perafita and Perafita peak.
