Sweet things never made anyone bitter. Anyone has gone to Palma de Majorca in a business trip without having enjoyed it. The capital of Majorca is one of those place where you go, return, and return again without getting tired. More and more modern and cosmopolitan every day, it is an ideal destinations for business or for organising an event in style knowing that all guests will return to their house with an unforgettable memory.
Hotels in the centre of Palma are working hard and now few are those who do not meet the guests’ expectations. Most of them have opted for high level accommodation, so there are many 5-star hotels in the old quarter and a considerable number of 3 and 4 star hotels with the same or even higher quality than the luxury hotels.
Without focusing on the beach areas, where big resorts in Playa de Palma, Palmanova or Playa de Muro still stand out, the accommodation in Palma is one the best ones in Spain, especially for business trips.
Congresses, conferences and corporate events are in fashion and this is undoubtedly one of the strongest segments and has been (and will keep) growing steadily. Celebrating an event in the biggest city of Majorca is easier every day: you don’t need many things to satisfy guests, since the destination is provided with all they can need, from luxury restaurants to an incredible heritage, museums and alternative leisure plans for all tastes.
Among the most attractive business hotels in the centre of Palma, it is worth mentioning Palladium Hotel: charming accommodation next to Jaime III, (the most commercial high standing street in the city) with rooms in Paseo de Mallorca, one step away from Es Baluard and the Palma marina. On the other side, the emblematic Saratoga Hotel offers interesting services such as lounge bar, gourmet gastronomy and the famous jazz sessions organised every week, all the year round.
In the promenade, in front of the sea, we find a charming hotel: Costa Azul. It has been recently refurbished and offers an experience full of authenticity and Mediterranean spirit, very unusual in Palma. Just some minutes away, we find the emblematic hotels Tryp Bellver, Palas Atenea and Melià Victoria, all of them very related to the MICE sector and business travellers.
Away from the centre of the city but offering good services and the possibility of organising large events in Majorca, is Iberostar Son Antem. Resort in the middle of the Majorcan countryside, situated between Playa de Palma, the Majorca Airport and the centre of city (15 minute drive), with one of the most complete wellness centres in the capital and two golf courses surrounding it. Managed since a couple of years by Iberostar Hotels & Resorts chain, it is also one of the hotels with more activities and plans offered to the Majorcan society, with popular events among locals and resident foreigners. Its Sunday brunch is a must.
According to the institutions of the city, a final boost to the business tourism in Palma will be given by the future congress centre which is being built in the closest area to the urban Palma beach, Can Pere Antoni, right in the beginning of Portitxol – Molinar neighbourhood. Nevertheless, this construction site, clearly affected by the economic crisis, has not a due date and is half done, waiting for investors that can finish it.
